Creating Assignment Triggers Using Geo-fences

This guide explains how to configure an assignment to start or complete automatically when a user enters or exits a specified geo-fence.

Open Assignment Templates, in Account Settings.
Select the assignment template for which you want to create a geo-fence trigger.
Select Triggers.
Review the triggers already configured for the selected assignment template.
If the required trigger does not exist, create a new trigger. A template may contain one or more triggers, depending on the requirements.

Complete the following settings for the new trigger:

Select the user group whose geo-fence transitions will activate the trigger.
Select the layer containing the required geo-fence.
If needed, select a specific geo-fence within that layer. If no individual geo-fence is selected, confirm that the resulting scope matches your intended configuration.
On Enter – activates when a user enters the selected geo-fence.
On Exit – activates when a user leaves the selected geo-fence.
Start the assignment – assigns or activates the assignment when the transition is detected.
Complete the assignment – completes the assignment when the transition is detected.

Select the transition that will activate the trigger:

Select what should happen when the chosen transition occurs:

Start the assignment – assigns or activates the assignment when the transition is detected.
Complete the assignment – completes the assignment when the transition is detected.

Check that the correct group, geo-fence layer, geo-fence, transition and assignment action are selected.
Save the trigger.
Test the configuration with an appropriate user to confirm that the assignment starts or completes when the selected geo-fence transition occurs.
