Direct Messaging Guide
Direct Messaging allows you to send messages to individuals using the Vismo Portal, Monitor, and Vismo Locate & Protect applications.
Users can send and receive messages directly through the Vismo Locate & Protect app on their device.
Account administrators can send direct messages to users via the Vismo Portal or Monitor app, depending on their access.
User (Vismo Locate & Protect)
The user can view messages in real-time within the Vismo Locate & Protect app. If a message is sent from the Portal or the Monitor app by an administrator, they will receive an instant push notification on their device.
Users can access both sent messages and any responses via the direct messaging function. They can view new and past messages by selecting the message icon in the top right corner of the app’s homepage.


To reply, they simply type their message where it says, "type a message..." and click the blue arrow to send it directly to the account administrators.
Once sent, the administrators will be able to view the response in the Vismo Portal and will receive a push notification on their device if they have the Vismo Monitor app installed.
Administrators (Portal/Monitor App)
The administrator of the account can send and view messages in real-time via the Vismo Portal and Vismo Monitor app. This allows them to contact individuals directly and receive a prompt response.
Portal:
To message a user via the Portal, either search for their name in the map view search bar or use the People search function. The example below shows how to use the People search function.
- Click the People icon on the left-hand toolbar.
- Search for the user you want to message.
- Click the speech bubble next to their username.
Note: If there is no speech bubble, you don't have permission to message that user. You will need to enable the permission.

4. A window will appear on the right side of the dashboard, showing any previous messages. Type your message at the bottom of the window and click the green button to send it to the user's device.

5. The user will receive a push notification on their device to check the Vismo Locate & Protect app for a new message.
When the user replies, a pop-up will appear for all admins who are logged in. Click "View" to read the message.
You can also view all sent and received messages in 'My Inbox' at the top of the portal. Just click the envelope icon to review the messages.

Monitor App
1. Using the Monitor app, tap the burger menu in the top left corner and select "User Search."

From the search results, choose the individual you wish to message.
You’ll be able to view the user's current location, and further details can be accessed by scrolling up from the bottom of the app.
2. Two buttons will appear at the bottom of the screen. Tap "Direct Message Person" to send a message to the selected individual.
3. Type your message in the "type a message..." field and tap the blue arrow to send it directly to the user’s device.

The user will receive a push notification notifying them of the new message in the Vismo Locate & Protect app, allowing them to respond.
Any response you receive will trigger a push notification on your device, and you’ll be able to view all past and recent replies from the user.
