1. Improved Location Cadence and Accuracy
From time to time, Apple alters how its iOS manages an App’s use of attributes (hardware & software) on its iPhone and iPad range of devices. In an effort to maintain its market leading position, Vismo operates an ongoing process of seeking to improve its own App’s performance, taking full account of any modifications Apple makes.
From iOS version 13, Vismo noticed some modifications Apple had made which under certain, edge-case scenarios could lead to a reduction in the accuracy of satellite based (commonly referred to as GPS-based) locations.
Release v1.1.6 of the Vismo App now uses an improved algorithm to allow for more frequent and better location updates whilst minimising any undue impact on battery performance. The Vismo App achieves this by constantly monitoring a number of key attributes of device performance, user location and user interaction with their device. Vismo is aware that its App may not be a high-frequency used App (i.e. not an App that is in regularly daily use), due to the nature of and the values that the App provides its user with. Unlike other vendors, Vismo has ensured the optimisation of its App even if its operating in ‘background’. Vismo does not ask or suggest to its users to ‘swipe up’ as this turns an App off completely, thus rendering it less effective both in terms of location accuracy/frequency and should it be called upon in an emergency or urgent incident situation.
Release v1.1.6 of the Vismo App will be subject to a staged rollout available from the Apple App Store, from the 27th August. This staged rollout will occur over 7days but any Vismo user is able to force an immediate update by following the instructions at the point of download.
