Asking the Vismo Agent (AI) About Location Patterns

This guide explains how to ask the Vismo Agent where people tend to be at a particular time of the week, for one person or for a team of up to 25, and what you can expect in its answers.

Knowing where people normally are is central to duty of care. You can use location patterns to confirm that lone workers and field teams are where they are expected to be at routine times, to spot when a routine has changed, to understand travel patterns across a month or a quarter, and to give responders context during an incident. The Agent reads nothing that the portal's location history doesn’t show. The difference is that you can ask in a sentence and get a summary in seconds, instead of opening and comparing history for each day and each person.

Before you start
  • The Agent only covers people you are already permitted to see on the portal.
  • Positions withheld by privacy mode are never revealed.

Asking about a location pattern

Step

What to do

1

Open the Vismo Agent.

2

Ask your question in your own words. Name the person or group, the day or days of the week, and the time slot, for example “Where does Ada usually go on Thursday lunchtimes?”

3

If it matters, add a time zone (“New York time”) or a date range (“in August”). Otherwise the Agent uses your own time zone and the last four weeks.

4

Read the answer. It says how many occasions it looked at, where the person or group spent their time, and any gaps in the data.

5

Ask a follow-up question if you want to narrow or change the period, for example “In August?”

Questions you can ask

Type of question

Example wording

One person, one time slot

“Where does Ada Okafor usually go on Thursday lunchtimes?”

A time slot in another time zone

“Where is Ada typically between 12:00 and 13:00 on Thursdays, New York time?”

A particular month or range

“Where was she on Thursday lunchtimes in August?”

Several days of the week

“Where is Tom Reid usually first thing on weekday mornings?”

Overnight shifts

“Where do our night security staff tend to be between 22:00 and 06:00 on Fridays?”

A team or group

“Where does the Leeds Field Team normally spend Monday mornings?”

Shared places across a team

“Where do the drivers usually go between 12:00 and 14:00 on weekdays?”

Calendar questions

“Which dates were the Thursdays in August?” or “Was 7 August a Thursday?”

What an answer contains
  • The basis: how many occasions were looked at, and how many had location data, for example “on 3 of the 4 Thursdays”.
  • For one person: where they spent the most time on each occasion, and their most frequent places overall.
  • For a group: the places most shared across the group, how many people were at each, and each person's most frequent place.
  • Gaps, stated plainly: occasions with no data, people with no data, and time when a person's position was private.
  • Approximate time at each place, in minutes, worked out from when the device reported.

For example, asked “Where does the Leeds Field Team usually spend Monday mornings, 08:00 to 09:00?”, the Agent might reply that it looked at the last 4 Mondays for the 6 people in the team, that 5 of them had location data, and list the places most shared across the team with how many people were at each.

Example names and places in this article are illustrative.

What the Agent will and won't do
  • It will summarise what the location record shows, say how many occasions and people the answer is based on, and say clearly when there is no data.
  • It will treat privacy mode as the person's choice, never as missing data.
  • It will use your own time zone, or another one you name, and handle the clocks going forward and back, so “12:00 on Thursdays” means 12:00 local time every week.
  • It won't predict where someone will be, or guess why someone was somewhere, such as calling a place “home” or a run of places “a trip”.
  • It won't answer for part of a group larger than 25, reveal positions withheld by privacy mode, include people you aren't permitted to see, or count a time slot that hasn't finished yet.

For larger groups, ask about a sub-group or named people.

How far back

Up to 13 weeks

Four weeks if you don't give a range. The Agent says which range it used.

Occasions per question

One day a week covers up to 13 weeks; every weekday covers 5 weeks.

Time slot length

15 minutes to 24 hours

From a short slot up to a full day or an overnight shift.

Tips for the best answers
  • Give the time and, if it matters, the time zone: “between 12:00 and 13:00 New York time”.
  • Name the account if you can see more than one.
  • Use the group's name as it appears in the portal. The Agent will ask if a name matches more than one group.
  • For long periods, ask about fewer days, for example “Mondays over the last quarter” rather than “every weekday”.
Troubleshooting / FAQs

Question

Answer

Why did it only look at five weeks when I asked for two months?

Each question can cover up to 26 occasions. Every weekday for two months is more than that, so the Agent covers the most recent five weeks and says so. Asking about fewer days covers a longer period.

Why didn't it include today?

A time slot is only counted once it has finished, so a lunchtime still in progress is left out. The Agent mentions this in its answer.

Some people show no data. Does that mean they weren't there?

No. It means their device didn't report during that time. The Agent never treats missing data as evidence that someone was somewhere else.

It says a position was private. What does that mean?

The person's device was reporting, but they had privacy mode switched on, so their position was withheld. This is shown as their choice, never as the person being missing or offline.

Why are the minutes approximate?

Time at a place is worked out from when the device reported, with each report counting for up to 30 minutes. Devices that report less often give lower figures, so treat the minutes as a rough guide.

It refused to answer for our whole department.

Patterns cover up to 25 people per question, so that no one is left out of an answer without it saying so. Ask about a smaller group or named people.

Can it see people I can't see in the portal?

No. The Agent applies the same permissions as the portal. Anyone you aren't permitted to see is reported as unavailable.
