Viewing Assignment History and Live Updates
This guide explains how to use the Assignments screen in the Vismo Portal to see the full history of an assignment: when it started, every check-in, any missed check-in, alerts raised and closed, and notes and photos sent from the field. Each event shows where it happened, and the screen updates itself as new events arrive.
An assignment is a period of lone working, such as a shift or a site visit, during which the worker checks in at agreed intervals. With the full history in one place, you can confirm that a worker checked in as required, spot someone who is about to miss a check-in before an alert is raised, and look back at the complete timeline after an incident.
Before you start
- You need the same access you already use for assignment features in the Vismo Portal. Users without that access are not shown the Assignments screen.
- History is available for both active and completed assignments.
- Check-ins are marked as early or late, so you can see at a glance how closely the worker kept to schedule.
- Missed check-ins and alerts are highlighted in red, with the time each alert was raised and closed.
- Notes and photos sent from the field, and replies from the control room, appear in the timeline at the moment they were added.
- The Assignments screen uses the same access as existing assignment features.
- History is shown for both active and completed assignments, in your own time zone.
- Exporting an assignment's history, and viewing history in the mobile app, are not available in this release.
Opening the Assignments screen
Assignments now open on a single screen. The list on the left shows each assignment with the person, the start time and how it finished, and the Summary at the top gives an instant picture of the assignments in view.
|
Step |
What to do |
|
1 |
Sign in to the Vismo Portal and go to the Assignments screen. |
|
2 |
Review the list of assignments on the left. Each entry shows the person, the start time and how the assignment finished. |
|
3 |
Check the Summary cards at the top of the screen for an overview of the assignments in view (see the table below). |
|
4 |
To narrow the list, select Filter and choose the assignments you want to see. |
|
5 |
Select an assignment in the list to open its details and timeline. |

Understanding the Summary cards
The Summary cards count the assignments currently in view. If you use Filter, the cards reflect the filtered list.
|
Summary card |
What it tells you |
|
Assignments |
How many assignments are in the current view. |
|
Overdue check-ins |
Workers whose check-in time has passed. These need attention first. |
|
Due within 15 minutes |
Workers with a check-in coming up shortly, so you can act before it is missed. |
|
No check-ins required |
Assignments that run without scheduled check-ins. |
|
Started automatically |
Assignments the platform started for the worker, rather than started by hand. |
Viewing the full history of an assignment
When you select an assignment, its headline facts appear at the top: who started it, the check-in interval, when it finished, and how many check-ins were made or missed. These are shown as Started on, Started by, Check-in interval, Completed on, Completed by and Check-ins.
Below the headline facts, the Steps & notes timeline lists every event in the assignment, with the time and the address where it happened.

Seeing where an event happened
Any event in the timeline that has a location shows a pin.
|
Step |
What to do |
|
1 |
In the Steps & notes timeline, find the event you want to check, for example a check-in. |
|
2 |
Select the pin next to the event. A map opens in place, showing exactly where the worker was at that moment. |

Live updates
The assignments list, the Summary cards and the timeline update by themselves as check-ins, alerts and notes arrive from the field. There is no need to press Refresh to see the latest position.
